Great article, Gary. Agree with most of it, but I do disagree on the Regional Diversity section. The whisky regions of Scotland serve no other purpose today than as a way to divide the country geographically.There is no typical Speyside, Highland or Islay profile anymore. You find wonderful unpeated whisky produced on Islay, heavily peated whisky produced both in the Lowlands, Highlands and Speyside. Floral and delicate whiskies in the Islands, Highlands and even on Islay. And what are the regions? Tax regions from olden days? Are Islay and Campbeltown regions? No, they are protected localities. Also the “Islands” should be recognized as a Region if we are to keep referring to regions geographically. Anyways, that’s my 5 cents on the topic.Cheers!Hi Pye. I totally agree!
